Pipes & Drums

The Zurrieq Scouts Pipes and Drums is a young pipe band which is determined to be with the best. The band is made up of young persons of different ages that make part of different sections within the Zurrieq Scouts Group. Within this section, members voluntarily show their love for music by playing their favourite musical instrument, pipes and/or drums.

In 2010 a decision was taken to move forward and transform the band, which also included bugles and xylophones, to a pipe band. During the last five years, the band participated in various activities mainly in the Annual Scouts and Guides parade, where it accompanied the Zurrieq Scout Group during the annual parade along the streets of Valletta. The Band also took part in the yearly Malta Military Tattoo during these last four years, besides other voluntary activities in aid of local charity groups. The Zurrieq Scouts Pipes and Drums also had the opportunity to play in front of HRH Prince Edward Earl of Wessex, during the Duke of Edinburgh Forum 2012 talent night. Also a section of the band played with the Zurrieq Orchestra in a Christmas Concert in 2013.

The band rehearses two times a week at the Zurrieq Scouts Headquarters where during these rehearsals the members give their best so the band can improve further.
